Del Abdullah

Community Outreach Coordinator

Born and raised in Durham North Carolina, Delphine Abdullah, affectionately known as Del, has always been taught to serve others. Her mother ran a daycare, where she nurtured young minds, and her father owned his own construction company, hiring young men and women in need of a job. Both of her parents were entrepreneurs serving others until they chose to work for other companies, her mother at Durham County General Hospital, and her father at North Carolina Central University. It would be at Durham County General Hospital, where her mother got her involved in volunteering. She became a Candystriper for 2 years.

After high school, the passion for helping others didn’t stop. She would volunteer for the fourth of July festivities on the Eno in Durham. Later in life, she continued with haircuts to those less fortunate and handing out bags of toiletries and other items to the homeless. Sharing her gift of service has always been important. Whether it was being a part of a group or working alone, the gift of service is truly a blessing from God.
