“Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves,
for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.’” Joshua 3:5 (NIV)
“[We] can do all things through Christ who strengthens [us].” Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
As a metaphor for our own ministry facility, the image of “promised land” is one given by Rev. Wanda Floyd, and this vision is now fulfilled in our eyes. As Imani prepares to enter a new chapter in its story, as we prepare to “cross the Jordan into the promised land” we enter a season of preparation, of consecration and rededication to our faith in God’s irresistible love. As this “promised land” at 3602 C-View Street is being prepared for occupancy in early 2011 we prepare (consecrate) ourselves during this season of prayer.
This blog is one avenue for us to pray together as we move forward in faith. This blog is a place to come to daily and enter our prayers, whatever they may be. A place to come and “rest in God” as we journey together to this new place in our lives and ministry. The words penned and made famous by Johnny Cash serve as an invitation to others:
On Jordan's [tranquil] banks we stand,
And cast our wishful eyes
To Canaan's fair and happy land,
Where our [true blessings] lie.
We are bound for the Promised Land,
We are bound for the Promised Land;
Oh who will come and go with us?
We are bound for the Promised Land.
