Friends and Family – Sunday, August 21
For over a decade, Imani MCC has meant so much to so many. In that time, many of you have had a hand in making Imani into a church where, through faith, all can experience and express God’s irresistible love through worship, word, oneness, wonder and witness. Come and help us celebrate those whose lives and ministry are woven into the tapestry that is Imani.
Phala is coordinating our Friends & Family Dinner. She writes, “I am the point of contact for food on this event and need to know what you intend to bring so we can avoid duplication. I will be bringing my famous potato salad.
Please send an email to me with your information. Please bring all your family and friends. The celebration will be right after our normal services at Calvary. We also need volunteers to help set up/clean up and serve.”
“Thanks in advance for your help. I look forward to seeing you!
”

NC Pride 2010 will be Different this year!
This coming Saturday, September 25th, people from all over North Carolina will assemble on Duke’s East Campus in Durham for the 2010 NC Pride Festival. Imani MCC will, as always, be out in full force – showing our pride.
For the first time ever, almost all the MCC churches in North Carolina will join forces. (Sacred Journey MCC in Hendersonville will represent us at Blue Ridge Pride on October 2nd in Asheville.) MCC Charlotte, St. John’s MCC in Raleigh, MCC Winston Salem, and St. Jude’s MCC in Wilmington will join with Imani MCC and march in the Parade together. We will also share a double-sized booth, combining our witness to help our friends know how much God loves them all.
As always, we begin our time at Pride with a communion service. We’ll join with other churches from this area at 11 at the Gazebo on Duke’s East Campus. After the service we’ll have people staffing our booth and others who will be marching in the parade.
Here are some of the specifics:
Materials
- We will have materials in the booth to let people know about Imani.
- We will fill out colorful “I am Living OUT Loud by…” statement cards during this Sunday’s worship to be posted on a design board at the back of the 20’x10’ tent.
- We need you to bring Imani photos to be posted on the design board as well. Please bring them this Sunday or to the church office early next week. See Rev. Phil.
- We will bring our Imani MCC banner to carry as we march in the Parade.
People
- We need as many Parade marchers as possible so that the MCCs of North Carolina are properly presented.
- We also need people in the booth from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. (St. John’s is providing security in the booth during the Parade. We can all march this year!)
Please contact Rev. Phil if you have suggestions or questions about our participation in this outreach event.
We will see you there!
