- Inclusivity
All of Imani’s Faith Teams will get together for brunch on Saturday, February 11th at 11:30 am. Following our Saturday Prayer Meeting at the Imani Worship Center on C-View Street, we will go back to Calvary UMC for the Rally. We will break bread and share what is going on in each of teams and tell about our future plans.
Even if you are not a member of one of our Faith Teams, you are invited! One of them might tell you about an opportunity in which you can help.
For more information about the Faith Teams Rally or about the work of any of our Teams, please see Rev. Annie.

Annual Watch Night Service
“Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.’” Joshua 3:5 (NIV)
Join us for our Annual Watch Night Service at 9:30 pm on December 31st. It will be a prayerful time of preparing our hearts to live consecrated lives in 2012.
Because this has been such a busy, busy year around here for many of us, we think it’s appropriate that we “let our hair down” as we end the year. In order to do this, we’d like for you to join us at 9:30 pm (instead of 10:30) on New Year’s Eve. Please bring desserts and your favorite games, and we’ll just eat, drink, and play games until 11:30 at which time we’ll move to the Chapel for our Prayer Service. We hope to see you on December 31st!

Imani’s 2011 Christmas Experience
“The Journey to Bethlehem and Beyond: Faith in Times of Uncertainty”
“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12 (NIV)
“On the surface Luke’s birth narrative can seem placid, charming and even romantic. But beneath the soothing surface we can glimpse some harsh political and social realities. The reason why Jesus came to be born in Bethlehem was an imperial decree ordering a census of all the peoples subject to the Roman Empire. Because there was no room in the usual lodging places, the child was born in a cave or perhaps part of a house reserved for animals. The newborn was placed in a trough from which animals ate. The first human witnesses to the child were shepherds, regarded in some religious circles as liars and social outcasts.” (Daniel J. Harrington, America: The National Catholic Weekly)
Jesus entered this world in the most unlikely place at a time of extreme uncertainty for his family, his clan and his entire people. In the midst of complete uncertainty he was born, grew up and ministered in ways that changed not only those around him but the entire world. As we observe Advent 2011 it is our intention, in these uncertain times we live in, to experience a faith that anchors us in God’s faithfulness.
Join us this Sunday, Christmas Day, at 10:00, as we remember that first Christmas Day.

Building Fund Giving
You have been faithful to continue investing in God’s extravagant future with Imani through our Building Fund. Even though we are nearing the date when we move into a new building, the need will continue as we look to improve the property. We pray that your giving will continue as well. We collect our special Building Fund offering on the first Sunday of every month, but you can contribute anytime online.
To donate to Imani MCC’s Building Fund or the General Ministry Fund, look for the “Donate” buttons on the right side of the web page. Of course, we accept in-person contributions at every worship experience at Imani.
